Today at work our credit card machine stopped printing so we took a card, made a copy and wrote out a reciept. The card holder got completely bent out of shape and demanded the copy of his card back saying copying it is illegal. I thought it’d be OK because even a business owner’s reciept will have the card # on it. Does anyone know if it’s illegal to make a copy of a credit card?

I disputed a charge on my credit card several months ago, and it showed up on my credit card. I was wondering how does that affect my score?
I sent about $120 to a guy in England for some paintings, via paypal, and he contacted me once, but then not for a long time after that, and the time I could dispute it with paypal passed by.
I contacted Citibank, the card I charged it on, saying I never received the goods. They put me through a huge ordeal just to get the charges reversed. When the charges were reversed, the guy finally contacted me, and sent me the paintings. I called Citibank saying I got the goods, and to please charge me, so they did.
I was nowhere near my limit when I disputed the charge or afterward. I still have the card too.
I received a notice a couple of months later, on my credit monitoring service that the dispute showed up on my credit report, but it didn’t say if it did anything to the score or not.
I’m somewhat worried, because I might need to dispute another charge (it was a duplicate charge) if the vendor doesn’t call and fix that situation.

My checking account was approved by Paypal. Everytime when I make a payment at Ebay, it makes an instant transfer from the checking account but my credit card was set up as the second fund source.

I want to set my credit card as the first fund source. Anyone knows how to do that?

foreclosure

I have been living in the same apartment for the last two years (it’s a 4 apartment rental building), and it’s going into foreclosure. The landlord moved out a few weeks ago and said I could live here until the bank kicks me out. I’ve been saving up the last few weeks for a deposit on a future apartment, but I’m wondering how much longer I have to live where I am now.

I guess the landlord knew about the foreclosure stuff for a while, but the only thing I’ve seen was something that came in the mail a few days ago. It was a court paper that said on January 11, there will be “an entry to foreclose” on the property. I live in a suburb of Chicago, IL. Does anyone have an idea of how much longer I can live here before they kick me out?

Also, what kind of notice do they give? 10 day? 30 day? Thanks

For example, if I used a cash advance to
1. buy stocks,
2. invest in bonds/fixed income assets
3. “refi” my personal mortgage
4. buy investment property

or any other situations where credit card interest is tax deductible?
Thanks for all you responses. Just to clarify -

Say I borrow $100 from my credit card at 10%.
I owe $110 at the end of the year.

I put this same $100 into a stock (or some other investment). It goes to $120 and I sell, gaining $20.

1. Do I have to pay taxes on $20, or $10 ($20 gain minus $10 interest)?

2. If I didn’t sell, can I deduct the $10 interest against my other income?

I want to get a debt consolidation loan, WITHOUT using my home equity, but they are telling me my credit score is great, but by ratio is too high. Well, I want to consolidate all the CC debt I have, but it’s running me in circles. What’s the point of trying to get a consolidation loan if they won’t lend it to you because you have too much debt? Does anyone know of ANY bank or anywhere I can turn to that understands and can try and help me? Thank you for your help!

They heard a gun shot inside and he found out the resident committed suicide? And the foreclosure was not due to the resident just trying to skip payments.
