student loan
Emily

I had a federal student loan which I consolidated about 8 years ago to someone who eventually sold that loan to Citibank. I pay about 8.35% in interest. I am considering paying off that student loan with a personal loan where I can get a better interest rate. If I do this will I still be able to write off the interest I pay on my taxes?

I know I’ll need to get a student loan sometime during my university studies. I was just wondering how they work, what you need to get one and how long you have to pay it back. Any extra details would be much appricated.

P:S I am a planning on studying in the U.S but I live outside the U.S.

credit card

I live in the State of Georgia and am being sued over an old credit card that I defaulted on. It has been more than 4 years but less than 6 years since the date of default, so depending on whether credit card debt is considered an open account or a written contract in the State of Georgia, the Statute of Limitations may or may not apply. The Staute of Limitations is 4 years for open accounts and 6 years for written contracts. Does anyone know for certain which type applies for credit card debt in Georgia? The account is with Citibank MasterCard and was opened in the late 80′s or early 90′s. Thanks.

I am looking into getting a credit card for emergencies only, though slowly building up my credit is a bonus. I am mainly looking to get a credit card because I will be studying abroad in Ireland in January and would like the security of a credit card for emergencies. What types of cards would be best for a 19-year-old college student that would be accepted in Ireland and what types of things should I look for in my search for the best credit card for me? Again, this card would only be used for emergencies. Thanks!

Can you explain the process of shorting on a foreclosure? How do the negotiations work with the lien holders? What would be a normal offer for a foreclosure property (as a percent of retail value)? Thanks, first best answer gets my ten points.

I am not in foreclosure yet, but I recently lost my position and we have very little savings so I don’t know that I will be able to save my house. We just got into our home in July and then my company lost a major account and I was out of work. I am doing sales now, but that is commission based and slow to pay. I have no equity in my home per se, and i live in California. I guess I’m wondering with the market the way it is, it might be better to walk away and try again in a few years.

recession

I have to write a proposal argument for my writing class and I want to try doing something satirical and propose that Americans begin buying more video games to get us out of the recession. I’m not taking any econ classes nor do I know a lot about economics, so I don’t really have a good understanding of the current economic situation in the US. With that in mind, let me know if such a proposal is too outlanding and impossible. Thanks!
