How can I get money for college when I have bad credit and cannot receive financial aid?

My husband makes too much money so I don’t get any financial aid and our credit is really bad so I can’t take out a personal loan… any suggestions? Is there any place that would give me a loan? And i’ve tried scholarships.. that doesn’t work either. I could pay for it out of my pocket but I wouldn’t be able to take but one class at at time and I dont want to do that. Any advice…? Thanks!

Seriously – if your husband makes too much money, then what’s the problem. It’s time to get your credit in order.
Put off college for a year and concentrate on improving your credit. Chances are you will likely find the money once your debts are organized.

As long as you don’t have any outstanding student loans or student loans in default, they will lend you the money, regardless of your credit history.

Depending on your field of study, you may be able to get a job which offers you tuition reimbursement. You can still take one class at a time, work to help with your credit debt and for the employer’s commitment/dedication to their staff. There are various types of grants you may qualify for, as well. Apply for student loans, they are not based on credit and have a lower % rate than a personal loan would. Additionally, you do not have to start paying them back until you are out of school for six months. However, there are certain rules for attending school on a less than part-time basis.
I suggest applying for FASFA anyway. It can’t hurt and you might be suprised.
Check out these student loans. Federal Perkins Loan, Stafford loan, Federal Family Education Loans and Ford Direct Student Loans. Ask the school’s financial aid deptartment for info on how to apply. My suggestion is to stay away from on-line sites except for the government websites. Think about making an appointment with the financial aid office for the school that you are hoping to apply to. They should be very helpful.

Additionally, if you have a past student loan that’s in default there is still hope. You will need to check out the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program…it has a consolidation program. If you are in default (which will indeed affect trying to get student aid), it will almost immediately pull you out of default once you sign up. It’s a wonderful program. Getting out of default will also help a credit rating.
Call and talk to them if you are in default.

There are student loans that do not look at credit. Talk to the finaid office, because there is even a student loan that gives you MORE money if you are denied outside loans. Best advice is talk to the finacial aid office in your school.

Bad credit is one of the worst problems to have… however there exists a solution.
I will hereby talk from my personal experience.
I did debt consolidation a couple of years ago, however If I had to do it again I would pay to some minor details,
if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan, however it may get a bit tricky at times, I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first,

Sallie Mae denied me and I don’t have any unpaid debts or default student loans. Credit just bad.
I’m counting on federal student loans, and my own income, but I’d like help in the same area.
