I suggest you request your free credit reports throught annualcreditreport.com or call them toll free @ 1-877-322-8228 for all 3 free reports. If the balance is showing on Trans Union, call their customer service # toll free @ 1-800-916-8800, then type in the reference # that should be on the top right hand side of the credit report. That should transfer you to a live person.

You should not have closed the account with the balance still pending. Stop calling and start sending letters. Send a certified, return receipt letter indicating these late fees are the result of fraudulent charges which have been removed. Ask them to correct their mistake and remove these charges and send you written confirmation that the account is closed and 0 balance.

Sonya B. has got it right when she says "raise hell about it". Don't be rude, but you definitely need to be firm with Chase and stand up for your hard earned money. I know, it's much easier said than done. Personal experience has taught me that you need to get the names of everyone you speak to on the phone or in person, document ever call you make, and keep moving up the chain of command until those late fees are completely cleared.

If it were a business you were having problems with, I'd write a letter to the Better Business Bureau. I'm not sure who "polices" banks, though, and to whom you could write a letter of complaint about Chase.

i think its ridiculous on chase's part, since they removed the charge but kept the late fee? they obviously feel they were fraudulent so why charge me late fees on something i wasnt late on in the first place? i worked in a bank and im surprised you havent raised hell about it. its not a good way to do buisiness
