		<description>This is state specific but on average the redemption period is about a year.  The occupant can stay in the house the whole time and they can buy it back durring that year if they find the financing.  If they can&#039;t find financing in that year only then can they actualy get booted from the house.

A whole year mortgage payment free, not a bad deal to get back on your feet.  Forclosures look pretty bad on credit though and unless they have a ton of equity almost no mortgage company will help.
