My husband left me in bad shape, but I have to get a place. I have money but no credit, what do I do? Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. thank you.

Many apt managers will look at more than your credit score when considering your application. If you include a letter of explanation as to why your credit is damaged that will go a long way. Now is also the time to begin to rebuild good credit and perhaps look into repairing the past damage. Check you the website below for great information on building better credit.

Have your mother or an aunt sign the lease as if they are staying with you. Then get some low limit credit cards don’t charge much and pay them off early. You will soon build your credit.

You shouldn’t have trouble if you can prove income w/ pay stubs and have cash for deposit.
You might not be able to have a huge range of choices but you should be able to find a place – maybe an independent landlord rather than a big apartment complex would be easier.
And yeah, get a pre-paid credit card to boost your credit rating and maybe a co-signer if possible.
